Glenn Beck is probably closer to my political center than John McCain. He's not exactly coming at it from the same place, but he's certainly getting to the same approximate location.
He's less excitable about it than my buddy Craig, and more economically literate than my friend Vinnie. The moral of that is that you don't have to fit the personality model of William F. Buckley or Ronald Reagan to be a real conservative. Although Beck's personal style is very different from mine, I think he's a force for pulling America in the right direction. I'll write more on this shortly when I get a breather from my life.
In the meantime, here's Jonah Goldberg offering a much deserved defense of Beck. It's a shame he doesn't get more of these... he certainly deserves them.
